Work occupies nearly one-third of contemporary daily life. Yet the question of balance between work and living may not lie in the proportion of time divided between the two, but in the gradual dissolution of their boundary. Rather than existing as opposing conditions, work and life may operate as reciprocal extensions of one another.

The office is therefore understood not simply as a workplace, but as a shared environment — one that softens the sensation of abrupt transitions between modes of living and working, while remaining a place for the continual practice of ideas.

Located on the third floor of the building, the studio opens toward a dense canopy of trees through a continuous band of glazing. An 8-by-8-meter workspace faces directly into layers of foliage.

We imagined an environment suspended within the treetops.



















The design process became, in part, a reflection on years of accumulated professional practice. An open spatial framework allows for future adaptability while maintaining a deep relationship with the surrounding landscape. Exterior planting acts almost as a natural green curtain, filtering direct sunlight before it enters the workspace.

Near the entrance, a container-like transitional volume is deliberately displaced from the original partition layout. Its angled orientation introduces a subtle indirectness to movement toward the powder room. Finished in a softly layered hand-applied coating with a faint orange-pink hue, the form becomes a quiet threshold into the space.
































Inspiration arrives from multiple directions; at times, it begins with the material itself.

Wood was selected not only for its warmth and familiarity, but for its latent vitality and capacity for transformation. Birch plywood panels are cut, grooved, and joined through beveled interlocking details, allowing construction, storage, and material expression to operate simultaneously. Through these manipulations, practicality and refinement remain in deliberate balance.

The worktables carry shallow grooves along their edges, lightly stained in pale blue. Variations in absorption rates within the compressed wood reveal subtle differences in tone and grain, creating nuanced distinctions across the surface. Water-based finishing provides basic protection while preserving the tactile quality of raw timber. Over time, exposure to light and everyday use is expected to deepen the material’s coloration — allowing the workspace to evolve gradually alongside daily life.

























The site itself was discovered and confirmed within only a few hours. Throughout design and construction, attention centered on achieving a precise and restrained organization of mechanical and electrical systems aligned with working needs. Additional formal gestures were intentionally minimized.

The project assumes that the life of the office does not emerge from completed form alone, but from accumulated memories, patterns of use, and the capacity for continued participation and change.

In time, additional floors became occupied by teams working in art and education — an unexpected constellation of practices, gathered through circumstance and affinity.
